What are Energy Attribute Certificates?
Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) are tradeable certificates that represent the environmental benefits of generating one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy.
Globally recognised under different names such as Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs), Taiwan RECs (T-RECs) or Korean RECs (K-RECs), EACs are widely used to meet sustainability goals.
They are compliant with frameworks like the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and support initiatives such as RE100 and Science-Based Targets (SBTi), making them an essential tool for reducing Scope 2 emissions and demonstrating climate leadership.
